The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, a game studio that he helped create.
The influential game designer died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and caught fire on a freeway in Los Angeles on Sunday, US media outlets report.
"This represents a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, those closest to him, and all those touched by his legacy," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts commented.
