The former Liverpool manager says coming back to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.
The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that returning someday is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought continental glory and ending the club's long wait since 1990, now holds roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance to Germany's league body.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
The club claimed England's top flight under Arne Slot, though countless followers who revere Klopp would embrace the idea that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I won't manage a different club on English soil. So that means should it be the Reds...yes. It's plausible.”
“I’m 58, which suggests the choice could be mine down the line, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about what circumstances must arise to draw him back to the dugout, he revealed he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for press conferences four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad enjoying conversation, that’s nice. We won a lot of games so there was often a very good mood at the club. I can still hear the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”
Praise for His Successor
He commended of the current boss, crediting him due to the changes which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row in all competitions after a summer spending spree, though he denied the suggestion it could be the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. Jota was killed in a road accident alongside his brother in July.
“Can you substitute a person like him? It’s not about the player himself, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the squad missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. A profound tragedy for all the boys too. No one within the club might employ it for poor performances but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Handling this on a personal level is difficult. Overwhelming.”
