Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the season-opening trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice late to seize a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to seal a convincing shootout victory.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
