Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
