Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician now faces charges for committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
