Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
