American actor Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic programs like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per reports.
"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives shared in a message.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on several hit series, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight series over nearly a decade.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored countless students throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote publicly.
The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
